I don’t think you even need go to the extreme of “grab a rifle and head to the front” to see that as RWers across the Anglosphere (and to a lesser extent in continental Europe) increasingly realize “their” countries are no longer theirs, these societies are going to get a lot worse.

Social trust, cohesion, impartial justice, fair dealing - all those things rely on people being ‘patriotic’ in the broad sense of the word, especially since a previous bulwark of such behavior, Christianity, has all but ceased to exist in most of the developed world.

Following the 1968 Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia Archangel Gabriel appeared before a despondent Czech citizen and gave him 3 wishes. The loyal Czech replied "I want China to invade the Czech Republic 3 times". The Angel asked why: "Because the Chinese Army would have to cross the Soviet Union 6 times and then maybe the Soviets would understand the importance of territorial integrity!!!"

American here. Having read Carter's essay and now yours, I'm wondering what the question for us would be.

Pending some 9/11 like event, a call to defend America seems unlikely. Should China attack Australia, we'd be rallied to their defense. In Canada's case, we're more likely the aggressors, engaging in some kinda of "Special Military Operation" like Russia and Ukraine.

Should these actions, driven by a hostile to my people regime, be supported? Sorry Aussies, but I don't see the point. In the case of Canada, if they struck against my hometown of Cleveland (perhaps killing family) should I rally to the flag and go kick some ass, Rico style?

Well, what am I actually fighting for in these cases? The liberal democratic/capitalist bureaucrats in Brussels, Davos, and so on. Fuck them and the gay horse they rode in on.

If the enemy of us all is so clearly seen, what now is to be done? Perhaps we should look toward poles of power working successfully against our enemy. Sure they are out there.

Interesting choices ahead, da?

Certainly an interesting topic. I would imagine 99% of my friends would have the LFG attitude. Being realistic it’s not going to happen in the US. The gun culture has ensured that it would be far too difficult to lay siege to this land. This is certainly one of the advantages of it.

That being said it has given rise to other methods of siege operations. Things like cyber attacks which bring down the entire house of cards come to mind. When Klaus mentioned about the dangers of such an attack I for one can tell you he was NOT bullshitting. What better way to topple this place than to get Americans to start shooting each other.

I’d always fight for my people but not my nation. It is a depressing reality that those aren’t the same thing.

Why do you say in the end you'd fight for Aus and that it's unconscionable not to? What would you be fighting for? Albo and Dutto to rule rather than Xi? What diff does it make to you, you're just a peasant regardless.

Look mate , no country is interested in invading Australia except New Zealand, and thats only because no one wants to live there, even though the buck toothed camel empathy pedlar no longer runs the place, apparently.

I personally am not prepared to fight the New Zealanders for our only few remaining rights , such as being welcomed to our own country by fake indigenous welfare recipients, watching our equally fake intellectually and morally retarded leader march in the mardi gras, while pretending he isn’t gay, and lesbians playing fake rugby on the telly.

I personally welcome any interest China or any other reasonably functional society has in reforming the place, but really , they probably have better things to do, unfortunately for us.

Canadian and Australian citizens must accept that the US military (representing the US oligarchs) will not defend either Australian or Canadian societies in the event of aggressive invasion. Despite past loyalties and alliances the US will defend US interests only.

There are already calls from business interests in bringing in millions of “new Ukrainians” to replace the dead white Slavs and those who fled. Capitalism gotta need capital

Absolutely vile. The corpse of the Ukrainian nation hasn't even finished twitching, and they're openly calling for rolling in their replacements.

Born and bred Aussie here – wouldn't defend this sunburnt purgatory of $6 coffees and suburban mediocrity.

It's a nation where Karens demand to speak to the manager of the weather and Normies whose entire personality is a Bunnings loyalty card. (If you’re an Aussie you’ll know what I’m talking about)

Would I help invaders? Not saying I'd hand them the keys to Parliament, but I might accidentally drop a few maps with "X marks the spot" over certain politicians' offices.
